Of course everyone's gonna remember this one cause a Coen brother made it. Main story is the same, as in the words are unchanged, so Joel poured all his effort into the look of the thing. In my opinion it payed off! Gorgeous to look at of course, but you also get the sense of the pointlessness of this power grabbing. His folk revere him as the king of Scotland but all the camera ever shows is his vacant castle. So it's not just looking good for the sake of good looks, it adds to the thematicness. Denzel Washington and Frances MacDormand are great of course. They really understand the words they're saying and deliver them with an impressive naturalism. But the little bitty parts are cast wonderfully too! Especially the lady who plays the weird sisters, Kathryn Hunter. She does this sort of Gollum thing where she's talking
